Barceloneta rolls past Sabadell

Barceloneta have kicked off a new year of domestic competition in the same way as the way they closed out 2014. The reigning Spanish champions held on to their leading position in the 11th round this weekend by rolling past Sabadell in a one sided match: 17-7. Felipe Perrone (pictured) and Albert Español led all scorers with 3 each. Mediterrani, perhaps temporarily, took over 2nd place on the table as they managed to hold off Sant Andreu at home 10-8. With Terrassa and Mataro Quadis squarring off on Wednesday, they could be moved back to 3rd place if Terrassa wins. In other matches last Saturday Barcelona used a solid start to overcome Navarra 10-8, thanks to the duo of Victor Flore and Joel Esteller who scored 4 and 3 respectively. Real Canoe are still in 4th place topping CN Poble Nou 7-11. Barcelona benefited from that result by taking over 7th place following their win over Navarra. Catalunya added three valuable points in just their third win so far as they defeated still pointless AR Concepcion in Madrid 6-14. All eyes will now be on the Terrassa-Mataro Quadis match-up where league top scorers Sergi Mora and Mehdi Marzouki will be looking to lead their teams to a much needed win, for different reasons.
