Hungarian league after round 19

No major changes in the Hungarian league after round 19, played on Wednesday. The midweek action in Hungary saw the top teams al gaining comfortable wins while Honvéd got a technical (0-5) victory assigned at Kaposvár where the home club was unable to get the scoreboard working. After 25 minutes of trying to no avail, the officials called it a day and awarded the three points to Honvéd. Elsewhere league leaders Szolnok rolled past UVSE despite a 4-2 2nd quarter setback. Milan Aleksic (6 goals) and veteran leftie Norbert Madaras (5) led the charge for the winners who were never in danger of suffering an upset. The same went for Eger although their opponent BVSC put up more of a fight. A better second-half performance though secured their 9-14 win as the reigning champions remained in 3rd place on the table. OSC meanwhile still holds the 2nd spot as Szeged was unable to create any real danger. A strong opening and finish formed the key to a solid 16-9 triumph for the Budapest based side. The closes match-up of the day saw Debrecen gaining a welcome win as they held off current 8th ranked Vasas 7-6. Botond Szabo was the game saver scoring not only the equalizer but also game-winning goal in the final seconds to get the home team the hard-fought win. FTC consolidated their 4th place beating KSI 15-7 at home thanks to a convincing opening and even more dominating finish (5-0) in the final period. The Hungarian league action continues next Friday and Saturday.
