International friendly tournament Nicolae Rujinschi Memorial Oradea (ROU): Szolnok wins international preparation tournament

Szolnok have emerged victorious over the weekend in Oradea winning the the international preparation tournament Nicolae Rujinschi Memorial. Despite losing a head-to-head match-up with domestic rivals OSC Budapest 7-11, their win over hosts CSM Oradea on Sunday, after OSC lost to the home side on Saturday, confirmed Szolnok's overall victory. The hosts took second place in front of OSC and the rejuvenated squad of Red Star Belgrade who still put up a decent fight with OSC in the tournament's final match on Sunday but eventually lost a high-scoring encounter 15-12. All four teams are not only preparing for the respective national leagues, or in case of Red Star the new Regional League, but the Champions League as well as both Szolnok and Red Star are directly qualified for the second qualification round while OSC Budapest and CSM Oradea will kick off their 2014-2015 Champions League campaign in the first round in Marseille and Herceg Novi respectively.
