Sant Andreu upsets Barceloneta for Spanish Super Cup

Sant Andreu have surprised friend and foe by claiming their first Spanish Super Cup after an upset 12-13 victory over cup holders and European champions Barceloneta on Saturday. In a sensational display the underdogs led by as many as 5 (5-10) going into the final quarter when Barceloneta started a furious comeback. Goals by Javier Gorria and Erik Brugue as well as a missed penalty shot from Albert Español held the Spanish champions, playing without goalie Daniel Lopez, from completing the rally in the fourth period as Sant Andreu walked away with the historic win. In the women's Super Cup duel no surprises as Sabadell rolled past Mataro 14-3 in a dominant display once again. Centre-forward Maica Garcia led all scorers with 4 as Sabadell looks to complete an incredible run claiming all trophies in competitions they participated in. The only one next for grabs is the European Super Cup, to be played in Barcelona in November.
