Garcia, Filipovic 2014 Europe's best players



Serbia's Filip Filipovic and Spain's centre-forward Maria Maica Garcia have won the LEN Awards for Europe's best players of 2014, LEN announced through their digital Online Magazine on Thursday. Filipovic, who had previously claimed the FINA World Best Player award for 2014 late last year, received a convincing 56,1% of the votes by the panel of  voters (cosisting of LEN Member Federations and members of LEN’s committees, commissions and panels) while Garcia, who led Spain to a European championship gold medal in Budapest and also won the club Euro League title with Sabadell, led all other nominees no chance taking a dominating 59,6% of the votes. Runner-up in the men's category finished Serbian goalie Gojko Pijetlovic with 22,8% of the votes, while Spanish captain Jennifer Pareja received 15,8% to finish 2nd in the women's category.
